When will our youth learn that bullying does not go far? Examining Aminu and First Lady palaver

It is very very frustrating to have to deal with Nigerian youth nowadays. It is tiresome indeed! Sometimes I want to blame the quality of education many received, but from the point of view of a social analyst, that is just too easy an excuse and the evidence does not support this. It is the same quality of education that these youth claim entitles them to take over Nigeria, (Father Lord, have mercy). Same education they use in executing successful and unsuccessful 'japa' escapades. Same education they use in securing admission into higher institutions abroad. So, yes, we could demand that the quality of education at all levels be improved, but that will not bring the change in psyche of majority of our youth.

I believe that many of our youth lack moral training and discipline and without these qualities, education means nothing and integrity means zilch. Our youth lack an appreciation of how society works and that there is a sure hierarchical order of growth. The generality of the populace of a nation will grow along this normal hierarchy that Maslow addressed as the hierarchy of needs. Outliers will manifest, but then, this number will be infinitesimal because they are the aberration and not the norm.

As one moves steadily up the ladder of life, the law of the land plays a great part in shaping our lives. There is no life without law serving to regulate it. This is where the Nigerian youth get it wrong. Neither can one person, nor a cohort of people decide to live in a society on their own terms. They and us all are subject to the law of the land.

This is where I get tired with the majority of the youth who think they can abandon rationality and take on irrationality, that they can bully the law of the land to doing their bidding. That they can be as arrogantly foolish and expect that people will give them a pass.

One young boy with total recklessness and in flagrant disobedience of law (Cybercrimes Act, Defamation (civil), Defamation (criminal)) set out to deliberately abuse and defame the First Lady of the country. Talk about the braggadocio, the sheer madness of it! Did he stop to think of the import of what he said -that the First Lady was feeding fat on the people? Did he think of the import which is that he was accusing her of being corrupt? Could he ever be able to substantiate that allegation?

And when he is rightfully picked up by the authorities, the usual ignorant herd come out to defend him and try to bully the First Lady.

The herd comprise, the award winning journalist of lies, the master of the lying cohort, then you have the comedian, who is always on the wrong side of common sense, because where there should be sense, other extremities took more space. They tell the First Lady to move on, and to release the hapless fella. They try some self-equivalence-they say that after all, other people like the former President GEJ had also been abused. My gosh! Talk about standing logic on its head, but then, it is me with the illogic if I ever expected logic from that confirmed crowd of near numbskulls who have the education (low or superior quality) but who prefer not to think, or have compromised capacity to think or perhaps to whom thinking is a tedious process that is not worth it when one can bully instead.

It is indeed very sad that the motley group of 'numbies' are the ones many Nigerian youth choose as their leaders, their mentors. It is indeed sad, that they have another mentor in form of a near deranged one who keeps the children of her genes outside the country in an environment where they dare not disobey the law, but steadily and daily encourage the Nigerian youth to break the law. May God not forgive those who lead our children astray.

I read that they are again angry at the foolish boy and are abandoning their puny efforts to blackmail the First Lady into securing his release, because he is said to have wished evil on Deborah Samuel, the beloved young Christian girl who was murdered on account of religious intolerance. See them again! From one extreme to another. How can anyone trust in this horde of irrational people? So karma is now that which makes their fervent effort to bully Aisha Buhari to become abandoned? These are irrational people indeed!

The next President of Nigeria has his work cut out for him. One of his main priorities should be how to get the Nigerian youth to understand that laws of the land will be enforced no matter the bullying that comes with it. Had the Government not released the anarchists of ENDSARS, had they been charged with some offence during the period of their madness, we would have more respect for laws. I wonder what has become of the prosecution of the comic relief character who was arrested when he insisted on protesting at the LTG on the 1st anniversary at the LTG?

There is also a need to let the citizens know that when it comes to criminal prosecution, anyone can file a complaint or petition with the Police and that the Police is at liberty to prosecute anyone EVEN IF the complainant says he/she is no longer interested in the case. All the Police need is evidence other than that of the complainant. In Aminu's case, he published an article, did he not? His horde's strategy of bullying the First Lady does not help him at all. But who will tell the false 'equivalencer' influencers.

I saw another ludicrous take on the issue from the NANS. They intend to go on strike from December 5, instant if Aminu, a lad that committed a crime is not released from custody. I really give up on these 'yeye' people. Whatever happened to securing legal representation for him. His offence is bailable so there should be a bail application. What is this ignorant sabre-rattling? https://dailypost.ng/2022/12/01/aisha-buhari-nans-plan-protest-as-court-sends-aminu-adamu-to-prison/

If I were the Police, I will arrest the NANS leadership for inciting the public against the Police and for obstruction of justice as well. Nonsense!

Stay safe out there friends. May we not meet the bullying horde at any time in our lives. Amen

I am just reading some of your old postings on your blog and I must confess they live up to what is expected from you. Ciao and have a great weekend. Dolapo Dabiri.
